Map & finding others

I have the Midgard Mapper and the Farm Finder tools. I must say that I'm not really sure how to use the to their top efficiency.

If I try to find someone on the Midgard Mapper (paste their name in the field and click player), I can't differentiate whom I'm looking for from the others on the map. Any more instructions on its use is appreciated.

Also, I have a message saying that we have declared war and attack N.S. What is the easiest and best way to find the closest N.S. village in order to attack? I found the alliance and the main person, but they're over 50 hours away. Help is appreciated.

Once I learn a few more things like this, I'll be a little more valuable to Midgard.
